Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. What is SSC CPO?

Staff Selection Commission conducts a national level test called the Central Police Organization (CPO) exam for recruiting candidates into the Central Police Organizations. SSC CPO exam is conducted to fill these posts – Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and Assistant Sub Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Under CAPF, there are following units – Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). SSC CPO 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

To be recruited by SSC in CPO, minimum age of an aspirant should be 20 years and maximum age should be 25 years (as on 01.01.2020).

Educational Qualification

  • Educational Qualification for all posts is Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Candidates who have not acquired the educational qualification as on 01-01-2020 will not be eligible and need not apply.
  • For the placement as Sub Inspector in Delhi Police (only) – Male candidates should hold a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) as on the date set for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. Otherwise, they will not be permitted to undertake Physical Endurance and Standard Tests

Exam Syllabus of SSC CPO Paper II

The questions will be designed to test your knowledge and understanding of English Language and will be based on – Error recognition, Filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Sentence Structure, Synonyms & Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, Comprehension, etc.
 
Note: After qualifying Paper II, aspirants will have to qualify a Medical Test.

Criteria for the Medical Test is given below:
  • Minimum Near Vision: N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye)
  • Minimum Distant Vision: 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye)

Ans: The total number of vacancies for SSC CPO vacancy 2019-20 Exam has been published by SSC are 2745 whereas last year it was1688. These are the expected vacancies to be offered, there may be a last-minute change as per the discretion of the Commission.
 
Q.4: SSC CPO exam is conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?

Ans. Both SSC CPO TIER I and II are conducted in online mode.
 
Q.5: What is the Exam Pattern of SSC CPO Examination?

Ans: The exam pattern of SSC CPO EXAM for Tier I is as follows:

It is conducted online with four sections these are:
1. General Intelligence and Reasoning
2. General Knowledge and General Awareness
3. Quantitative Aptitude
4. English Comprehension

Each section comprises of 50 MCQs carrying one mark each. The maximum time allotted is two hours to attempt 200 MCQs. Questions will be bilingual i.e. in both Hindi and English medium one can choose the medium at the time of applying for the exam. There will be negative marking with a deduction of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

Eyesight: The minimum distant vision ought to be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses.

Physical Efficiency(Endurance) Test(PET) ( For all posts)

Candidates, who have scored above the cut-off marks fixed by the Commission in Paper would be called for the Physical Endurance Test/Medical examination.

Exam Pattern of SSC CPO Tier-II
Questions in SSC CPO Paper-II will be asked from the English section only. There will be 200 MCQs to be attempted in 2 hours. Tier II is also subject to negative marking with as much as 0.25 marks for every mistake.

Final Selection / Merit will be prepared on the basis of the performance of the aspirants in the Written Examination and Physical Efficiency Test.
 
Q.6: Will there be any marks allotted to PST/PET test?

Ans: No there will not be any marks allotted for PST/PET yet it is a qualifying exam and qualifying it is mandatory.
 
Q.7: Will there be an interview after Tier II?

Ans.: There will be no interview as per the norms laid down for SSC CPO EXAM

Q.8: What are the age criteria to apply in the common written exam?

Ans: The minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age limit for the exam is 25 years. The candidate should meet the criteria as on the date of application.

Ans: Generally the application fee for SSC CPO Exam is Rs. 100/- for those who do not fall in the reserved categories. There are no fees for Female/SC/ST candidates. Candidates can pay the fees through SBI Challan/ SBI Net banking or through credit/ debit cards of any bank. There is a provision of paying the fees offline through challan of SBI, may make the payment to designated branches of SBI within the working hours of bank upto the last date of application.
 
Q.12: What is the exam date for SSC CPO Tier 1 EXAM 2020-21?
Ans: The tentative dates for SSC CPO EXAM 2020-21Tier1 Exam as mentioned in the latest annual calendar of SSC is from 28th August to 1st October 2020. Tier-II exam date has not been announced so far.
