What is SSC?

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. What is SSC MTS?

SSC MTS is a national level exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission to recruit eligible candidates for the non-technical posts as directed by the Government of India. It is conducted to recruit the candidates for Multi-tasking Staff in several government ministries and offices. Roles and responsibilities of a candidate selected through SSC MTS exam are – General cleanliness & upkeep of the Section/Unit, Photocopying, sending of FAX etc, Assisting in routine office work like diary, dispatch etc. including on computer, Watch & ward duties, Cleaning of rooms, Cleaning of building, fixture etc, Dusting of furniture etc., Upkeep of parks, lawns, potted plants etc., Delivering of Dak (inside & outside the building), Work related to his ITI qualification, if it exists, Carrying of files & other papers within the building, Physical maintenance of records of a section, Driving of vehicles, if in possession of valid driving license.

SSC MTS 2020 Eligibility Criteria

To appear in the SSC MTS 2020 examination, candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Nationality: A Candidate must be a citizen of India. A candidate from Bhutan or Nepal is also eligible for the exam. A Tibetan refugee who came in India before 1st January 1962 with an intention to settle here permanently is also considered as an eligible candidate for this exam. Candidate of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India will also be considered to sit in SSC MTS 2020 examination.

Educational qualification: Candidates must have passed 10th exam (High school) from a recognized board. Candidates pursuing 10th will also be eligible subject to submission of certificates whenever asked.

Age Limit: Candidates’ age must be within 18-25 years as on 01.08.2020. Age relaxation will be applied for reserved categories as per the norms prescribed. Date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation (10th) certificate or equivalent exam will be taken into consideration for age count.

Final Selection

Next phase of SSC MTS exam will be document verification. This phase is based on the performance of an aspirant in Paper-I and scoring the cut-off marks in Paper-II. Q.1 What is the eligibility criterion to appear in SSC MTS Exam?
 
Ans: The eligibility criterion to appear in SSC MTS Exam is Matriculation Examination or equivalent from a recognized Board.

 

Q.2 What is the maximum date to acquire the minimum educational qualification in the SSC MTS?
 
Ans: Candidates should have acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before the date of application for SSC MTS Exam.

Q.5 For applying to the examinations of Commission, is it mandatory for every candidate to get themselves registered with them?

Q.6 What is the authentic method for onetime Registration? 
 
Ans: The candidates have to click on ‘Register Now’ link provided in login section on SSC website https://ssc.nic.in. Do follow the given instructions thoroughly mentioned in the registered webpage. 

 

Q.7 How to upload photo and signature while applying for onetime registration? 

Ans: The candidates are supposed to check the size and format of the photograph and signature files. The scanned color passport size photograph should be in JPEG file format and the photograph’s size should be in the range of 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height). Likewise, the scanned signature file should be in JPEG format and the file size should be in the range of 10 KB to 20 KB. In addition, the image dimension of the signature should be around 4.0 cm (width) x 3.0 cm (height). The candidate should note carefully that the image of the signature should occupy at least 75% of the frame. 
 

 

Q.8 What should be done if the registration number and password are not received on the e-mail?

Ans: In such cases, the candidates are supposed to check the “Spam” folder in their email account. Furthermore, if email is not received in ‘Spam” folder then it is possible that a candidate might have entered wrong or invalid email. It is recommended that candidates should contact Helpline number of the concerned Regional Office through email. 

 

Q.9 What should be done if a candidate forgets his registration number and password? 

Ans: In such a case, the candidate should go to ‘Forgot Password’ link in the Login section on https://ssc.nic.in and enter required details. After getting verified through email or mobile OTP, the candidate will find his registration number and password getting displayed on the screen. Thereafter, the candidate will be prompted to change password and set a new password and keep it safely for future usage in the examinations. 

 

Q.10 While doing One-time Registration for the first time and saving data in the “Basic Information Tab”, if the system is giving a message that “User Already Exists”, then what to do? 
 
Ans: It is advised to check your matriculation certificate. In case, ‘Roll Code’ is also given in addition to ‘Roll No’, then in the column 6 (iii) and 6 (iv) of the Registration Form, do enter your Roll No in the following format: “Roll Code”-“Roll No”. For instance, if the Roll Code given in your Matriculation Certificate is 12345 and Roll No is 1234567, then you have to enter Roll No in column 6 (iii) and 6 (iv) as 12345-12345

 

Q.11 What is the fee to be paid with the application for each Examination? 

Ans: The fee to be paid by the candidates with the application is Rupees one hundred (Rs. 100/-) for each Examination.

 

Q.12 Which categories of candidates are eligible for exemption from paying a fee? 

Ans: The following categories of candidates are eligible for exemption from paying a fee- Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe, Persons with benchmark Disabilities (Divyangjans) and Ex-Servicemen. 

 

Q.13 How can I reprint my offline bank challan? 

Ans: The candidates are supposed to Login using their ‘Registration Number’ and ‘SSC Registration Password’ in the login section of the website. Thereafter, do click on the ‘Download Offline Challan’ link of the concerned examination in the Latest Notifications’ Section in your Dashboard. 

 

Q.14  When SSC is going to conduct SSC MTS TIER I 2020-21 EXAM?
 
Ans: According to the annual calendar of SSC EXAMS 2020-21, MTS exam tier I is scheduled in the month of October 2021 tentatively and the date of notification is mentioned as 2nd June 2020.  The SSC MTS 2020 notification is pending. Let’s hope SSC releases some MTS posts for 2020-21
